SEA Awards Guidelines

A. The Screen Excellence Awards are open to all legal South African citizens and official permanent residents of the Republic of South Africa in accordance with the South African Citizenship Act, 1995.

B. The Screen Excellence Awards are open to all students currently residing in studying film in varsity South Africa.

C. The Screen Excellence Awards are also open to those former film students who have graduated but no longer than 4 years removed from their institutions, these students will be considered professionals.

D. Student entrants must be registered with a tertiary/ higher education institution accredited by the Council of Higher Education during the eligible time of entry. This accredited institution of Higher Learning may submit work on behalf of their students.

E. Professionals who produced material as students during the eligible entry period may only submit student projects under student categories. Any project produced, as a professional must be entered into the professional categories.

F. Film content must be submitted for consideration to be eligible for the SEA.

G. Only film content produced in South Africa will be considered for the SEAs.

H. Films don’t need to have been exhibited publicly to a paying audience in a commercial or indie cinema in South Africa.

I. All submissions in which intellectual property rights are jointly owned must be submitted with the full written consent of all joint rights holders concerned

J. All content must be submitted online at www.sea-sa.tv/submissions

K. Lecturers and Educational institutions are to encourage submission to the SEAs

L. Entrants need to select all categories and sub-categories that their content must be considered in.

M. Judging: The judging process will take place from Mid-June 2022 and will be completed in July 2022

N. Announcement of Nominees: The SEA Nominees will be made public in Mid-July After Judging.

O. The Screen Excellence Awards Ceremony: The SEA awards ceremony will take place in August 2022.

P. NOTE: Any entry that does not follow the entry requirements which results in a dispute will be automatically disqualified
